We have assembled a “Freshen Up” Kit that is recommended for engines over 150,000 miles. This kit replaces all the major bearings and gaskets and other wear components. As the Vortec / LS engines age, we have noticed that low oil pressure becomes common. Although often not low enough to be rejected, it is on the lower side of the acceptable level. After processing nearly 500 engines over the past 10+ years we have noticed that this low oil pressure is often caused primarily by the Cam Bearings. Unfortunately the Cam Bearings are deep inside the engine, often being the very first component installed into a bare block during new engine assembly. We have devised a process and some special tooling that allows us to remove & install new Cam Bearings without removing the heads. This does minimize labor as much as possible but the engine is still significantly disassembled. This kit replaces the following:

  • Cam Bearings, Clevit CH-10 or CH-25 depending on year

  • Rod Bearings, Clevit

  • Main Bearings, Clevit

  • Oil Pump & Pickup O-Ring, GM Performance

  • Timing Chain Set, Meling

  • Knock Sensors & Wiring Pigtail, Import

  • Idler Pulley, Import

  • Tensioner Pulley, Import

  • Valve Cover Gaskets with Bolt Grommets, Texas Speed & Performance

  • Front Timing Cover Gasket & Front Crank Seal, Texas Speed & Performance

  • Rear Cover Gasket & Rear Main Seal, Texas Speed & Performance

  • Oil Pan Gasket, Texas Speed & Performance

  • Water Pump Gaskets, Texas Speed & Performance
